The Wedding Liturgy

General Outline

Prelude: The organist will play some quiet music as the assemby arrives. You may select a special piece for members of the family to be seated if you prefer.   

RITE OF WELCOME
 
Processional:  The entire bridal party will process up the centre aisle to one instrumental selection. 
 
Entrance Chant: This is a hymn sung by everyone when you arrive at the front of the church...like the opening hymn on a Sunday. Any hymn of praise from CBW III or Celebrate in Song  is appropriate here.
 
LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading:   A reading selected from the Old Testament
 
Responsorial Psalm (sung):  a psalm sung in response to the first reading 
 
Second Reading:  A reading selected from the New Testament  
 
Gospel Acclamation: an Alleluia sung just before the Gospel is read.
 
Gospel and Homily: Normally the Presider chooses the Gospel passage.
 
RITE OF MARRIAGE* 
Statement of Intentions and Declaration of Consent
Blessing and Exchange of Rings
General Intercessions:   (Response: Lord hear our prayer)
Nuptial Blessing
 
CONCLUDING RITE
Lord's Prayer
Solemn Blessing
Dismissal 
Signing of the Marriage Documents: While the marriage documents are signed, an instrumental piece or solo can be performed here.
 
Recessional: Instrumental music as the bridal party walks out of the church
